I've been living in Uruguay for a few years (yeah, a LONG WAY from Mexico) and find it interesting that there quire a few American's that have retired in MEXICO that are now looking at possibly a second move here.

It would be a good idea to make temporary living arrangements in Mexico (ie: rent before you buy) to make sure that's where you really want to be.

Yeah, I've heard that many Americans are now looking at countries like Costa Rica instead of Mexico.

A friend of mine retired to Mexico because you can live better the on what most people get from their retirement funds.

I heard, though, that expats cannot vote. Is this true?

Do you mean Expats from the U.S. cannot vote in a U.S. election? They would vote by mail.

Nobody who is not a full citizen should be able to vote in an election.

The political landscape is too unstable for my tastes. But then again, my retirement years are not here yet, so things could drastically change...
