You're a Canadian? Why choose Vietnam as a place to work? You can try to work here at the United States. Well, if I am right, I think you are just going to train there, well if that is the case then good luck. After you have mastered your sills we would like to see you cook for us Americans. Keep us posted.

Bovik,

What is so wrong in working at an Asian country like Vietnam? Are you a racist? If that where his calling is at then you should not really discourage him in doing so. One can excel in other parts of the globe, if he is to become a world renown chef, I think he will not find it in the United states. Why? Because there are already an abundance of chefs in the US whom he has to compete with, while in Vietnam he has more chances (not that I am saying there are fewer or master chefs).

Why don't you pay a visit to Viet Cuisine Restaurant? It is at 20 Hang Can St, Hoan Kiem District. (at the Old Quarters, Hanoi). Here is the contact of the restaurant's director if you are intersted in.

Hi Alec, if you are really a good Vietnam cuisine cook why not just stay in your country and have your own restaurant there? a small restaurant will do for a beginner. Introduce the cuisine in your country, who knows if your cooking passed the tastes of your fellow men (wow a patriotic word!)? I just think it would be best to start a business, at least you will be the of your own establishment.

Racism has become a really sensitive topic. I do not see any hint of that in Dovik's statement. All he was trying to wonder was why head to a different country where you are just hoping to see things light up? It would be the best idea to think along those lines within your area.

Clearly, there is no harm in investing elsewhere anyway? All the best Alec. I would head to Vietnam first if I were you.
