I know they arrive in Da Nang Vietnam, but I'm not sure where the final battle (at the end of the movie where the NVA leads a massive attack against them) is located. Is it Da Nang as well?

The very successfgul movie, Platoon was shot on the beautiful island of Luzon in the Philippines, which started in February 1986. The production of the movie on a set date was almost called off because of the political upheaval in the country with then-political dictator Ferdinand Marcos. However, a producer well-known in Asia's help, Mark Hill, the shoot went on as scheduled. The filming lasted 54 days and cost $6.5 million. Nevertheless, the production made an agreement with the Philippine military for the usage of military equipment.
